SNOW… NEVE… SCHNEE… NEIGE… SNE…

“The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event.

You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another,

quite different one, and,  if this is not enchantment,

then where is it to be found?”

“La caduta della prima neve non è un semplice evento,

è un evento magico! Vai a letto in un mondo di un tipo

e ti svegli in uno molto diverso e, se questo non è

incantesimo, dove mai lo si trova allora?”

J. B. Priestley

Dear Barbara, “the snow” has almost become “Snow”, lately — a persona! It has a lot to do with the great love I have had for snow ever since I was a child, when winters were real winters, with lots of snow that stayed on the ground for months. I recently read “Snow” (‘Neige’), by the French author Maxence Fermine, and that started me off writing HAIKU poetry, which already amounts to over 20 pieces… Thank you for your visits!! :O)

THANK YOU, Barbara from Adelaide, Australia, for subscribing to my blog!! :O)

Now, every time I make an addition, you will automatically be notified with an e-mail! The wonders of modern technology — not all bad, huh…

You’ve given me an idea: to add here the haiku poems about snow, so that this becomes a sort of little snow “shrine”! 😉

I very much like the simplicity of your poems in all languages and also the beautiful images which accompany them. Your great strength is your love of languages and the way you use them. Do write more!

Thank you, dear Esta!! It’s great to be appreciated in one’s efforts! And the pleasure is doubled, when appreciation comes from such a fine connoisseur as yourself… I will definitely write more, also thanks to those who encourage me, and spur me on — after all, even poets do need some encouragement! ;-]
